The Accounting Theory was founded on September 7, 2017 by Nicky Zagata, a young entrepreneur with a passion for educating and supporting other small business owners by letting them focus on everything on the front end, while she kept everything in line with the books on the back end. After many years as a solo operation, Nicky has built a team of experienced accountants who have the same mission in mind.

With over 19 years of experience in the finance industry, Nicky is passionate about guiding and supporting small business owners as they navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. After working her way up through several CPA firms and small businesses, she fulfilled her dream of opening her own accounting firm in 2017. Her mission is to help business owners make confident, informed decisions based on accurate financial reporting and clean, dependable numbers. Nicky firmly believes that having the right team in place from the start is key to building a successful business.

A proud Livonia native, Nicky earned her degree from Madonna University, where she developed a strong foundation in accounting, finance, and business leadership.

When she's not working with clients, Nicky enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their four children. Whether she’s cheering from the sidelines or relaxing by the pool, family time is always a priority.
